On Thursday 16th of June, the Sports department at Huddersfield New College organised and hosted a fantastic taster day for talented athletes in years 7 to 10 in local high schools. The aim of the day was to introduce these talented athletes to the College’s Talented Athlete Support Scheme (TASS).

Around 50 talented athletes from Huddersfield Grammar School, Holmfirth High, Honley High, Colne Valley and North Huddersfield Trust attended the day. They participated in a carousel of 4 sessions; 3 classroom based and managed solely by our current TASS students and Sport Ambassadors, and a practical team building session led by Sports staff in the impressive Sports Barn.

The Huddersfield New College Sports students who gave up their time to help out on the day were absolutely fantastic and hosted their sessions with real professionalism.

The day was a real showcase for the leadership skills of these fantastic Sports students as well as for the support programme we offer to talented athletes, and everyone who attended went home confident, that if they came to HNC, they would be fully supported to pursue their sporting ambitions to a high level, including national and international level, and to be successful academically as well.
