Huddersfield New College played MCC at Honley but couldn't match their victory of last year.
MCC fielded a strong side and put up 227-7 before dismissing New College for 209 in a cracking match.
The MCC started well and were 120-1 at lunch, but the runs dried up in the afternoon with Ben Shufflebotham and Alex Kennedy keeping it tight and they declared just before tea, with Jack Hinchcliffe having taken three for 15 and Sam Baxter two for 26.
Rory France and Kennedy (46) gave New College a fine start in reply before Ben Birkenhead (62) and Siraj Sajid (45) took it on.
They needed 85 off 10 overs to win, but both were out in quick succession and New College then couldn't get another partnership going - eventually closing 18 runs short with two overs left.
New College coach Pete Lombard said: "To play MCC is one of the biggest privileges you can get in your cricket career so its our biggest game of the season. I am proud of the cricket team going for the win and backing their ability. They promoted and held Huddersfield New College name very highly on the day. We would also like to thank Honley Cc for letting us use the facilities and Tim Taylor for arranging the MCC side with David Lees (the stand-in captain for the day)."
