Hannah Boden writes herself into the history books by becoming the first elite player to win three consecutive British singles titles in Racketlon.
Hannah started the British Championships as second seed to UK number 1, Lauren Whiteman. Both top seeds progressed through to the final of the competition with ease.
In the final, it was a tenacious Lauren who worked hard to stop Hannah settling into a rhythm in the first event, Table Tennis, and capitalised on this by bringing the first set to a reputable draw, at 15-15 each. However, a strong finish by Hannah in the second set opened up for her a 5 point lead going into the badminton event.
Hannah dominated the badminton event, as was expected, as this is her strongest sport, and it was this that gave her a 21 point advantage over Lauren going into the next event, squash.
In this event, Hannah displayed excellent defensive skills, leading her opponent Lauren to make lots of unforced errors, putting her at the half way stage 11-4 down to Hannah.
Lauren rallied valiantly in the second half, but this 7 point gap was insurmountable, and Hannah won the squash final 21-15, making sure that the final did not go to the tennis courts to settle the title, and with the squash victory, Hannah earned herself her historic third Ladies A National Title.
Many congratulations, Hannah!
