Assistive Technology

A picture of students using the computing facilities at HNC

Throughout the college, there is a range of assistive technology in place to aid your studies. The Study Centre staff are trained in TextHelp (Read and Write Gold), which is available on all PCs and is useful for all students, as well as those with a Specific Learning Difficulty, such as dyslexia. See for extra information.

TextHelp is text to speech software, which can be used to produce mind-maps, bibliographies, etc. Members of the team are also trained in Alternative Formats and can convert texts to MP3 format, and larger text for visually impaired students.
