BUSINESS LEADERS OF TOMORROW NETWORK WITH THE LEADERS OF TODAY

HNC has revealed that our Young Enterprise group have recently enjoyed a fantastic experience at the Young Enterprise Leeds Regional Ambassadors Hub.

Will, Haseeba and Lucy all participated in our Young Enterprise enrichment, and during this they created their own environmentally friendly business ‘Little by Little’. As part of this they planned, produced and sold a reusable bag that was packed with ideas to help consumers live a greener lifestyle and become a more environmentally conscious customer. As part of this they gained a huge range of skills ranging from project management and marketing to finance and negotiation skills, and benefitted from mentoring from local industry leaders. The team were even interviewed on the TV show Steph’s Packed Lunch about their experience as part of a special feature celebrating Young Enterprise’s anniversary.

Attending the event allowed the team to network with business leaders and share how Young Enterprise had made a difference to them. They also joined a special Q&A panel with CEO of Young Enterprise, Sharon Davies, and Steph McGovern from Steph’s Packed Lunch. Haseeba was invited to ask her questions, and was able to seek Steph’s top tips for making the most of her Young Enterprise experience and building industry connections – a clip of this can be viewed on our social media feeds. During networking sessions, the team were also able to find out more about some exciting apprenticeship options available to them.

Matt Kuszyk, Teacher of Business comments: “Young Enterprise offers students a brilliant opportunity to experience the world of business in real life, and our most recent group enjoyed coming up with their highly successful environmentally friendly business idea and product during our Young Enterprise enrichment. During this journey they have gained so many skills as young entrepreneurs, and have also grown in confidence. Attending the hub was a great next step, giving them access to a professional networking opportunity where they were able to share more about the value of their experience with business leaders who are considering becoming involved in the Young Enterprise initiative. It was also of course a unique opportunity to network with some high-profile business leaders from across the region and gain some real life advice and top tips.”

Young Enterprise is one of the many enrichment opportunities available at HNC. Students who would like to find out more can see the enrichment channel in MS Teams for further information.
