Do you have an interest in the law and current affairs? Our BTEC in Applied Law is a fantastic way for you to gain an introduction to the English legal system and areas of civil and criminal law including:
- Civil and criminal courts
- The legal profession and the judiciary
- Parliamentary and judicial law making
- Non-fatal offences
- Murder and manslaughter
- Property offences
Grade 4 in a traditional written subject, for example GCSE History or GCSE English Literature.
Our teachers offer you an engaging and interactive learning experience. During lessons you will explore the topics detailed above, and join in on a range of debates and discussions. This is supported by external opportunities including visits to the Magistrates’ and Crown Courts to directly observe legal professionals in action!
BTEC Law supports a wide range of progression pathways, from Law to Criminology and Business. This qualification has been developed in partnership with employers, making it ideal for students who want to enter the profession, for example in a legal apprenticeship.

Many students combined BTEC Law with BTEC Business and this is a popular choice for students who are aiming to study Law at University.
