CRICKET CULTURE: HNC CRICKETERS EXPLORE POSITIVE MINDSET COACHING

HNC’s Cricket Academy recently welcomed Matt Baxter to HNC for a specialist session on how positive mindset coaching can enhance elite performance.

Matt, who runs Matt Baxter Coaching, spent time with our Cricket Academy team exploring the differences between fixed and growth mindsets, and how the latter can help performance development. The cricketers were able to share the successes, challenges, and experiences they’ve faced so far, and discussed where improvements and positive changes could be made. Matt also encouraged the team how to embrace, rather than fear, any failures, as it is through our failures that we develop and grow as people and athletes.

During the session, the team also explored how becoming the best teammate you can be can contribute to a positive team culture, and how this will support team resilience long term.

Jack Hendy, Head Cricket Coach comments “Our Cricket Academy players are training and competing at an elite level, and this session delivered by Matt, has further helped them to focus their growth mindset and push on to the next level. The values learnt in this session will not only help our Cricketers on the pitch -the message of resilience, challenge and reflection align with our values as a College, and will support our cricketers’ success in the classroom too. Thank you to Matt for delivering a genuinely enlightening session”.
