HNC ACADEMIES ARE AT THE TOP OF THE GAME

Following this week’s fantastic news that our Women’s Football Academy Coach Emily Senior has been selected to coach Bradford City AFC’s Women’s First Team Manager, HNC has revealed that our Academies are celebrating a hat trick of very special news!

Today we are celebrating the news that our Men’s Football Academy has beaten Bishop Burton College on penalties after a dramatic 0-0 regional final. Now the team will be heading to their fourth national final for the fourth year running!

This coincides with the news that once again our Cricket Academy has been listed once again in the Cricketer Magazine’s ‘top 100’. This lists the top educational establishments for cricket, with entry to the guide being subject to an extensive set of criteria including commitment to cricket in the curriculum, facilities, fixture programmes and coaching.

Whilst our Women’s Football Academy lost in the regional final to York, we would still like to celebrate and recognise the fact they progressed so well in the AoC Competition – we are very proud!

HNC Sports Academies provide a unique experience for students who want to be top of their game in their studies and their sport. As part of a full time study programme, students who successfully trial for an Academy receive specialist coaching in their relevant sport, and compete at the highest levels.

Jamie Marsden, Head of Faculty for Academy Sports comments: “What an incredible week for our Academies! The week started on a high with us celebrating the news that our Women’s Football Coach Emily has secured an additional role with Bradford City, which will only further the experience our students enjoy. We then received the news that our Cricket Academy has been recognised nationally, with HNC being listed as one of the Cricketer Magazine’s top 100 schools in the whole of the UK. Whilst of course our Women’s Football Academy was disappointed to not have won the AoC Sports Regional final, it remains an incredible achievement to reach the stage they did. Students who are part of their academies are at the top of their game, and as a College we are proud of the exceptional experiences our Sports Academies offer.”
