HNC REVEALS NEW HEAD STUDENTS & EXCITING CHANGES TO STUDENT VOICE ENRICHMENT

HNC has revealed that following an application and interview process, our new Head Students, Deputy Head Students and Student Council have been appointed for the 2024- 2025 academic year.

The team are now working with the outgoing student leadership team to discuss current projects. Staff at HNC are also supporting the group to transition to their new roles. Pictured above are our new Head Students, Deputy Head Students and Lee Goddard, Assistant Principal.

All shortlisted candidates were offered a position on the Student Council. However, following student feedback and a review of our Student Council, next year this will have a more structured programme and a key focus on providing training, to ensure the group can gain additional skills and knowledge. Student Council will also host themed discussion sessions, where students will provide specific feedback on areas that HNC wish to further develop. These will be in addition to the ‘free topic’ sessions, where our Student Council can meet to discuss feedback gathered from their peers, and any topics of importance to the student body.

Once again Student Council will be available to incoming Year 12s as an enrichment. However, following this review, students interested in taking part for their enrichment will complete a short application process. As part of this they will be auto enrolled in the Head Student Development Programme, which will then provide access to training in a range of topics such as chairing a meeting and public speaking skills. All of our student leadership team will continue work collaboratively with our Student Council to share student voice and shape the student experience at HNC.

Lee Goddard, Assistant Principal comments: “The panel were blown away by the quality of applications received, and the considerate and impressive interview answers our shortlisted candidates gave when asked about the difference they felt they could make to student life at HNC. It was an incredibly difficult decision to make our appointments.”

“Following a high level of interest in Student Council as an enrichment last year, we are delighted to reveal that incoming Year 12 students who would like to take part in this can expect a structured programme which will see them shaping priority areas for the College and being able to take part in specialist training that will support them during life beyond HNC, irrespective of whether they wish to apply for a Head Student role when applications open. Our new team already has many fantastic ideas, and we’re really excited to work with them to develop what we do at HNC.”
