In a week which saw Huddersfield New College receive the news that the College remains in the top three organisations in the UK for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) following the National Centre for Diversity (NCFD) Grand Awards, Principal Angela Williams further solidified the College’s commitment to EDI by signing the Kirklees Diversity = Innovation Network charter.
The Kirklees Diversity = Innovation Network is a collective group of employers and businesses within the wider Kirklees area who come together to share best practise and build a knowledge base of EDI initiatives and opportunities.
This week also forms the initial bid for re-accreditation as a NCFD Leaders in Diversity organisation, an accolade the College was first accredited with in 2014. The College’s assessment for Leaders in Diversity takes place every three years, and is a rigorous assessment of the work that the College undertakes within the College and wider community to promote EDI.
Erika Montgomery, Director of EDI, comments, “It was a pleasure to attend the NCFD Grand Awards recently, and learn that Huddersfield New College remains in the top three organisations in the UK for its work in promoting Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. It is a pleasure to be a part of the Kirklees Diversity = Innovation Network and to work with local organisations to support our local community and we look forward to welcoming the NCFD in to College later on in the academic year to show case the work that staff and students have tirelessly undertaken to promote EDI within our College community throughout the past three years.”
