STUDENTS EXPLORE HOW THEIR VISION CAN BECOME A REALITY

HNC is delighted to be revealing a snapshot of the exciting guest speakers, lectures, alumni and workshops that will be hosted during the College’s first vision week which runs from 11 December onwards. While all students are supported to develop their plans and vision for the future on an ongoing basis, these weeks provide inspiration, advice and an opportunity for students to connect with individuals from the professional world.

During Vision Week, students will be offered a huge range of opportunities that ultimately will help them firm up their progression plans, and map out the path to their dream career. Our first Vision Week runs 11 December – 15 December and we already have a fantastic programme of events students will be able to choose from, all linked to our courses and the varied careers that these can support. Each Faculty has designed a comprehensive schedule of events that will see each and every student have the opportunity to engage with activities such as guest speakers and workshops that will directly support their progression beyond HNC. From university level workshops that will build on subject specific skills and stretch and challenge students to achieve highly, to work based skills sessions that will see students develop their CVs, Vision Week provides a platform for our young people to become their best selves. This is the first of two Vision Weeks, with the second scheduled for 4 – 8 March 2024.

These activities will be taking place in lessons across the week, with multiple opportunities for each subject area to engage with. We will be welcoming industry speakers, past students and representatives from universities from across the North of England, as well as offering students the opportunity to take part in a range of trips and visits closely linked with their vision. From apprentice Solicitors and alumni working on cruise ships, to an international Film Director and a session where students can experience a professional acting audition, these unique opportunities will help our students to prepare and plan for life beyond HNC.

Maria Dean, Assistant Principal comments “Vision Week is an integral part of the College calendar and truly embodies our curriculum intent- to educate, enrich and enlighten. Every single student who studies at the College will have the opportunity to engage with a range of high value activities tailored to their specific study programme and career ambitions. These weeks also aim to help students consider the exciting career paths that are out there too that they may not have previously thought about, and also offer a valuable opportunity to network with potential future employers. As a College, we are determined that every student studying with us will become their best self. Vision Week is a key way we help students understand that the world is full of unique and varied opportunities, and support students in planning their future so that they can take their next steps with confidence. Our snapshot of activities provides an insight into our guests and opportunities we have so far, and we look forward to revealing our final line up in the coming weeks!”
